Reminder, you need to be able to make your own kingdom to form parties, armies, polices etc. Taking over isn't enough, so keeping the Former Lord around for a while at least may be a good idea. You aren't actually a Kingdom at that point. You have your lands but you aren't counted as a kingdom, you can't pass laws and such.
